Chai-Anan Samudavanija, a former Constitution Court judge and esteemed political scientist, played a pivotal role in drafting the 1997 Constitution of Thailand. His contributions extend beyond the 2005-2006 political crisis, as he has been a fervent advocate for public policy and the democratization of Thailand’s political system. Aligned with Sondhi Limthongkul during the tumultuous period, he later co-founded the Matchima political party with military and provincial support. Holding influential positions such as director of Vajiravudh College, president of the Royal Institute, and professor at Chulalongkorn University, Chai-Anan has been a key figure in shaping the nation’s political landscape. Recognized as the leading political science researcher in 1986, his influence spans government roles, including the Constitutional Drafting Committee in 1974 and as a Thai Senate appointee in 1989.
